This Privacy Policy explains how Emerging Wisdom Counseling, LLC (“we,” “us”) collects, uses and shares information when you visit myemergingwisdom.com. It covers this website only. Information you share with us as a client in counseling is protected by our separate Notice of Privacy Practices under HIPAA, which you receive when you begin services.
Information we collect
- Contact form: when you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address, phone number and message you enter. Please do not include health information or details about your treatment in the form. It is not a secure channel for protected health information.
- Appointment requests: the “Request Appointment” and “Schedule an Appointment” buttons take you to our secure client portal, hosted by SimplePractice. Information you enter there is handled under SimplePractice’s privacy policy and our HIPAA practices, not this website.
- Automatic information: like most websites, our host and plugins log your IP address, browser type and pages visited for security and spam protection. With your consent, we may also collect anonymous visit statistics.
- Cookies: we use a cookie to remember your cookie choices. Other cookies (for statistics, maps and videos) are only set if you allow them in our cookie banner.
How we use information
- To reply to your questions and schedule appointments.
- To keep the website secure and block spam (for example, with Akismet and our security firewall).
- To understand which pages are useful, if you allow statistics cookies.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.

- WordPress.com / Jetpack (Automattic): contact form delivery, site statistics, security and image delivery.
- Akismet (Automattic): spam filtering for form messages.
- Google Maps: the map on our homepage loads only after you allow it.
- YouTube: videos on our Resources page load only after you allow them.
- SimplePractice: our secure client portal for appointment requests.
- Email delivery: messages from this site are sent through SendGrid (Twilio).
Your privacy choices
You can accept or reject non-essential cookies at any time using the cookie banner, or the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link at the bottom of every page. We honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals from your browser as an opt-out. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings.

We keep contact form messages only as long as needed to respond and for our normal business records. Security logs are kept for a limited time and then deleted.
Children
This website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information online.
